Expecting nothing from people is a good start, but a better one is realizing that, a goodly portion of the time, not only will you get nothing, you’ll be robbed, beaten, rejected, and then blamed for the consequences that befell them as a result of spending the priceless assets they took from you on garbage. After you realize this, it’s better. Then, at least, you understand the basic lay of the land, and the peculiarly unexpected features that its relational terrain actually comprise.
