Miracles intervene directly between our concepts of identity (and thus function, possibility) and the realities (which are superfunction, and transpossible). The thing that ‘astonishes’ us about miracles isn’t their character, which, ordinarily, we find ourselves in complete agreement with. It is their existence, which we find our -models- in absolute disagreement with. Is this really surprising? Our models are about as ‘advanced’ as little squiggles drawn in excrement with a stick that shocks our intelligence into a more confused state every time we pick it up. The point is this. There are no miracles. Our models are completely stupid. The miracle is that, with models as ridiculous as ours… we can even notice when they are contradicted by the bold and obvious hand of -damn near everything in existence, including our capacity to form models so absurd that they blind and dominate our mind rather than empowering them-.
