In order to learn, it seems to me, we must be free to make the kinds of mistakes that either attract or awaken sources of insight. Within or without. In other words, we signal (the mistake) and then there is a reply (new awareness). Again, within or without. If we do not, or cannot signal freely, creatively, and passionately… (because the context inhibits or prohibits it), we cannot enjoy a primary avenue of learning together. Regarding the reply… if we take this personally, the reply may be either resented or falsely celebrated. The learning effect (and group benefit) are egregiously reduced. If we take this openly, the learning effect (and group benefit) is magnified many fold, but the ‘false ego’ is neither inflated nor attacked.
