“If one were to establish cultures that despised intelligence and creativity, and then suddenly ‘notice’ that madness ‘happened to be closely associated with both’, that would be cause for comedy, not evidence of science. To consider this evidence of relation between insanity and superfunction would be moronic. I mean, it seems fairly obvious that this is evidence of living in a culture that is as viciously stupid as it is fearful of discovery and revolution. Such a culture necessarily despises and attacks both creativity and intelligence, openly. The result is that when they manage to emerge at all, they are not uncommonly associated with the symptoms of the damage they survived.”
