There’s a theory that music is the source of language, and more, that it refers to a kind of emoto-physical ‘lexicon’ of something we might clumsily refer to as ‘gesture-feelings’. Now one of the things that interests me about this is that modern electronic music (I was listening Sesto Sento) sets up movement-emotion waves that mimic sex and the onset of orgasm. The degree to which sexuality is involved in human music cannot be readily ascertained, but perhaps these ‘gesture-feelings’ are actually the embodied expressions of the exaltations experienced in the movements of sexuality. And perhaps more provocatively, in such a case, dance itself becomes sex with the time, space and nature, and ‘sex’ emerges as the ‘original cause’ of language.
