“Death will remain a mystery. There are, however, two related ideas that are almost certainly represented. The first is that of diversity. The idea that everyone has the same death experience is about as realistic as the idea that everyone has the same conception (and thus birth, life, etc.) experience. The other is that what one does in life matters in some kind of an accounting fashion. As if good deeds earn you some form of consideration. That’s a banker’s version of the beyond. It has a lot to do with this world, and little to do with the next. All in all I suspect every death, and whatever may lie beyond it, is at least as unique as every conception, birth, and life.”
