The strong version of Sapir-Whorf rests properly upon an understanding of the unique roles and abilities of metaphor and idiom in each language. Metaphor is no ordinary figure of speech, and in our rush to render everything comprehensible, we discarded something that comprises a fundamental and hypercreative force relative to the establishment of meaning and identity. In metaphor, the sSW will, I believe, be vindicated.
