The fundamental basis of communication has nothing to do with our ideas. It is not material. It is not sound. It is not seeing. For a simple reason: one cannot depend upon these. There is only a single transport that is dependable, and all others are prostheses of convenience. The transport is intimacy. If you are not listening to the heart of another… directly, as if it might somehow be your own, and your mother’s… you are not yet listening. And more, it is likely that you have not yet understood what listening is for.
