Few people understand what I will speak of as the active deepening of stillness. For example, one can be so still that this process starts to deepen of its own accord, drawing other beings or even places into stillness with it. And by stillness, I do not mean sterility. I mean something like potential in its purer state, prior to differentiation — a movement toward that, which proceeds to become more and more still. This is a kind of active stillness, and it is a surprising thing to discover that there are forms and depths of stillness. Some of these can be understood to unlock modes of liberty (of consciousness) which are otherwise ordinarily inaccessible, or perhaps unavailable. Stillness is far deeper than one imagines. It is, apparently, infinitely deep.
