It’s fine to stand outside of culture yelling at it. But, realistically, we are all immersed in it unless we actually opt out. So if we are immersed in it, we will need to change it from within. We need to go from angry outsiders, to impassioned, mutually empowered insiders.

It is not terribly likely that we will overthrow the dominant cultures. We are going to have to steer the ship, instead of blowing it up. We need to recognize the powers and capacities of the vessel, and the waters upon which it sails. Then we need to assemble wise and diverse council, and change what is meant by education, health, social well-being, government, environment, and commerce.

From within.

Barring sudden catastrophe (and I won’t bet on that), we are going to change our cultures from within, and probably not by yelling at or attacking them from without.
