Just before they strike, they shiver. This shivering is a visible aspect of their preparation to leap up out of the waters of time into a transtemporal superposition. When this occurs, they briefly attain unity with every other one of them who ever did this. And then they strike, and return to ordinary time.

In this fashion, over millions of years, they have acquired and develop a transtemporal body, of which any physical instance is largely a material projection, and in which the mind of each of them shares intimately. The peculiar intelligence they are instances of is extremely provocative, alien, and astonishingly … accessible.
