Dead time is the numeric kind. It’s for interacting with human cultural transports that want something from you.

Living time is what is happening in plants, organisms, living terrain, weather, the sky, and their relationships.

One of these is real and nourishing to our humanity.

The other is a convenient substitute for lost streams of relation with existence.

(I think there’s an analogy here to language).
