So, it turns out that the mind is a bit like a stomach. It ‘digests’ experience and produces ‘by-products’.
Those who have clarified this matter to its roots have realized that thoughts are a bit like farts, and knowledge and belief like offal. Most of us love to play in the gassy cloud, and cover ourselves with feculence, thinking this utterly grand. We parade around like royalty in our excremental robes, and often demand that others acquire and wear those that we have adopted and prefer.
When seen from beyond its confines, this game is bizarre and absurd. Yet, the matter is even more confusing than it appears: noticing this, will you take up this idea as a belief, and thus contradict it? Or will you leave it where you found it, and go on contradicting it just as you did before?
From which (zen) tower will you fall into sewage?
