I am deeply concerned about the modern formal ‘educational’ paradigms. Teaching’ is a confusing idea which ordinarily results in distress for most of those involved. It is my experience that what catalyzes learning is passion, curiosity, and enthusiasm.

Our earliest experiences of learning were like this. They were, indeed, an invitation to become a participant in another world… the strange (and often confusing) world of adults and their common relational games… foremost amongst which was, of course, formally representational language.

The goal, then, should be to awaken, support, and empower these feelings. Yes, -=feelings=-. Learning is the result of feelings, and being subjected to pseudo-maliciously imposed structure only rarely results in the feelings that potentiate learning. If we are to call this process something that makes sense and leads to learning, it should be ‘enthusing’, not teaching.
