There are many human beings whose prowess at being alive is preternatural. Some of these are completely invisible to all other humans and are never detected.

So too, some animals, within any species… even insects… spawn individuals so unique and amazing than only rarely, if ever, are they detected. If you are lucky enough to have an intimate encounter with such an individual or creature, the results are usually astonishing and wonderful. They involve mutual uplift, discovery, and actual excellence rather than mere performance.

But humans judge each other and their symbionts by comparison with those members standing in the open. The obvious ones. The ‘famous’. The visible. The ‘popular’. They even strive to emulate them. They spend their precious attentions following, discussing, and popularizing them.

Consider this matter carefully before you join them in this activity. Those who are standing in the open and those emulating the famous are not usually the interesting and accomplished individuals they appear to be. They are accomplished -=at being noticed=-. Though this may involve some domain of performative excellence or superficial beauty, these features are often not only extremely misleading — they commonly function as bait for traps. The prices for following such people are steep, self-obscuring, and usually debilitating.
