I am deeply concerned that film and video have taught us ways of mentally representing time and causation which are hopelessly flattened, catastrophically crude, and sacrifice the natural experience of florid dimensionality which would otherwise obtain. This in itself is cruel, but the resulting deleterious effects on our intelligence and relational capacities are unthinkably profound.
