I doubt many would guess that my first exposure to ‘social media’ (some two years ago now) was Xbox live, and my first friends were 99 Halo afficionados…
I’d run intelligence and distractions… and take out anyone who wasn’t at least my equal on the way… We had some common team configurations that were interesting. We used to have the most deadly sniper… this 17 year-old kid from Louisiana. Sometimes I’d have the honor of guarding him so he could acquire and maintain a position of advantage.
Proliferate was his handle. It was tragic for the other team if this kid ever got to any sort of position with ammo. Just tragic. He’d ice ’em where they spawned. I’ll remember him forever.
Strange to say that, for all my sophistication, I have a lot in common with those codefrosted wardogs. We were like furious hunting packs, running wild with virtual ammo and sticky grenades in a universe where combat was glory and teamwork a kind of relational eros…
