In 1981 I predicted (to A.C. on my friendlist) that we’d be growing memory in vats within 10 years and engineering biocomputers in 25. There are some things it’s really hard to outdo organisms at. I was maybe a bit ahead of my time in terms of thinking about future technologies. The problem is, I still am. Worse still, I’m a lot farther ahead than I was then.
