The naive intuition is that nontechnological peoples who lacked sophisticated mathematical and observational methods simply failed to develop their capacities for intelligence. Yet, unencumbered by the vast and self-propagating libraries of knowledge and methods that comprise much of our modern expertise — they invested their awareness differently, and consequently flew where we can only crawl.
