I had to (re)discover on my own most of the things others learned in school or from books. I heard the word Algorithm (as it related to programming), long before I knew what it might mean. Painfully, slowly, I began to discover what it meant for myself. That there was a peculiar ‘art’ of arranging procedures and relations — mathematically and linguistically — central to the craft of coding for machines.
