If, like an illusionist pulling a tablecloth from beneath fine porcelain, I could get hold of and pull ˚the dreaming˚ from you like a sheet, suddenly divesting you of its constant contributions to consciousness, a yawning cacophony of unintelligible chaos would result. Dreaming must constantly inform our consciousness in order for the experiences of identity and meaning to emerge.
