“The cultural emphasis on verbal and word-based communication is *toxic masculinity.* It prioritizes systemic and structural meaning over human experience.

I’m glad this mama chose wholeness for her family. There is not a standard that delineates ability from disability–WE MAKE THESE DISTINCTIONS. After we make these distinctions, we choose to use them to serve or further harm those we have called “disabled.”

The truth is that every human is able in the ways they are able, and unable in other ways, sometimes due to a body condition, sometimes due to the design of the world, sometimes due to a lack of TRUE teaching and learning. Lefthandedness is even a kind of “disability” in that the world is not designed largely for lefties and they get HURT using tools for righties.

When we meet people where they ARE able, we have relationship. When we try to change people so that they fit in, we enact tyranny. When we create a world that works for “most” of us, we deprive ourselves immeasurably, stewarding abundance to drive us apart.”
