Social media is largely owned and ‘captured’ by precisely the interests that actively produce the problems we face; a post on facebook directly, financially supports those interests, while ‘bleeding off’ the emotions and potentials for mutual organization and effective action that might otherwise oppose that which we find objectionable.
Do not mistake posts on social media for ‘action’. They are its standing opposite in nearly every case, and swallow up our motivations and potentials for organized, effective transformation. This is ironic, and largely unknown among social media users.
I note the exceptions, there are some … but posting ‘I’m against environmental devastation’ or ‘I oppose genocide’ is the height of naive non-action.
It literally pours cash and intelligence into the highly effective, highly organized forces that literally ‘eat’ our objections and spit out what we ‘oppose’.
Meanwhile, ‘we’ ( a passive, victim-like non-we ). somehow think this is effective. It’s the opposite of effective. The exceptions exist, but are trivial in comparison to how easily captured and inverted the effects of our ‘posts’ are.
