The ancient Egyptians, and others… the Mesoamericans… were masters not of superstition… »but efficiency. This »should be blatantly obvious. To suppose that they were profoundly efficient in their architecture, which fact stands foremost in the mind of anyone who examines their pyramids… while elsewhere they were ‘merely superstitious’ is the imprimatur of fatuous hubris.

A people who could enact projects such as these, »must have been as concerned with the efficacy of their ontologies… as they were with moving, shaping and assembling »stone.

More so, in fact.
