When you first see Amazon on the rise, you don’t realize that you will soon not be »able to get the things you need all the time… in your neighborhood. You don’t see what will go away.
Including the »actual Amazon rainforest. Literally.
It’s a vacuum. It sucks up all the businesses and relationships that were arising »between persons. The character of neighborhoods and it’s relational metabolism. The ‘little local families’ of people who work and live and shop … together.
That disappears. And you get a machine that takes care of all that.
And precisely the same thing happens… in every layer of our self-colonizing American ‘culture’. The next great thing becomes an insatiable undertaker. For anything that existed before it. And the relationships and meaningful ways of being human communally … that would have otherwise survived, and perhaps… even flourished.
So we live »into dead futures this way.
The virtues of our human potential cannot be legislated or commercialized into existence. They have to be invoked. Together. With and for each other. In relation. And learning. Play, wonder and heroism.
Anything that vacuums that up… and spits out crude representations of the remains…
Go ahead, finish the sentence for me…
