It appears that moderns think that posting on social media is a form of activism; this is unfortunate, as it is, most often, the precise opposite of actual activities and the formation of clades capable of transforming the vectors of societal diseases.

Posting on social media has, approximately, the explicit opposite of the effects we somehow imagine: it directly supports the oppressive electronic panopticons which profit from abstracting our analytics, and it eats up the energies that we might otherwise use to form actual, effective ‘we’ groups whose »actions could, if not thus deflected…. change the meaning of our histories and the possibilities of an intelligent human future.

This is what I refer to as ‘the ironic counterpose’; an endemic feature of our electronic modernity… which even »this post is an unfortunate example of!
