Immigration problems in the US are actual, and complex.

But they will not be solved by pretending that ‘these people are getting benefits without paying for them’.

If we do the accounting for »all recent immigrants, legal and not, they are found to receive far less than 1% of federal spending.

In actual fact… let us pause for a moment of clarification.

• Undocumented immigrants paid $96.7 billion in federal, state, and local taxes in 2022. Most of that amount, $59.4 billion, was paid to the federal government while the remaining $37.3 billion was paid to state and local governments.

These are numeric facts. Not claims. Not invective.

Actual facts.

Additionally, we might inquire what precisely occurs in US military spending:

• The Department of Defense (DoD) is projected to receive 14.3% of the 2024 federal budget, which is $1.94 trillion in funding. The DoD plans to spend $1.43 trillion, which is 73.5% of its total budgetary resources.

For 1.94 trillion dollars, over one year, we could re-establish an entire new nation on the land we currently occupy. The actual cost of upgrading and retaining a world-class military organization would be something on the order of 1/8th of that price. So… we must ask ourselves…

Which one of these situations is monumentally parasitic?

It’s not the immigrants.
