In 1989, my best friend, Gary P and I were making regular recordings of musical and performance experiments. This one took place at the studio I helped Jay Stearns (Seres Labs) build in Santa Rosa.

Unfortunately it turned out to be prophetic. The song is about war, and the madness of it. One of the lines ‘they’re making land mines that they drop from the sky, and you never wonder why, you just say… HA HA HA HA…’ turns out to have been sadly prophetic. (See below).

The first part of the song is Gary, and the second is me. I wrote the drum track and the music was from a distorted DX-7. We improvised the lyrics on the spot.

From Ukranian news, today:

“Residents also describe how the drones are salting the whole Kherson area with small antipersonnel mines. The mostly plastic munitions, PFM-1S, are commonly called petal mines because of their distinct and innocuous shape. They explode when stepped on and are typically green or brown to camouflage them on the ground.”
