I have a friend who, when I speak about nonhuman intelligences… or nonordinary situations, demands evidence. “Show me,” he says. I understand what he’s requesting.

Yet I don’t think he can yet understand… that the aspect of his awareness that refuses to entertain anything he’s not already ‘sussed out’, is precisely the problem… that deprives him of the experience he’s requesting I provide.

And what he’s requesting, in short, is that I »force him to have experiences that… he’s already decided cannot be real. Not only would it be unkind of me to attempt this, and dangerous, I think it would result in some kind of a catastrophe in his mind.

Nonetheless, occasionally, without announcing it… I try to lead the horse to water. Whether or not it drinks, isn’t up to me.
