Human linguistic intelligence depends on context and connotation. But it is commonly treated as if it depends on definitions. The problem with this view is that definitions are necessarily modulated by context, relation and connotation.
Our systems — social and electronic — capture and weaponize this problem. Against the possibilities of human intelligence and understanding. Long ago, this was almost impossible. But religions use a similar principle by weaponizing time, life, behavior and death.
If we can together learn to understand this, we can acquire at least limited immunity. One of my passionate motivations is to reverse this situation, so that our relationships with language, models, concepts and evaluation… become ecstatic. In the sense of liberation from extrinsically imposed stasis.
