Take a moment to notice that if you are going to walk somewhere, before you go, usually almost casually, you »compose a route.

I want you to stop and really consider this for a moment.

Because, before you begin to consider, think, reflect or decide… in your mind… you do something similar.

And, just like walking… this (largely) decides which destinations are available. But in physical reality, if there’s a serious obstacle or unexpected situation, you have to »adjust your route. You will probably still reach your destination, if walking, but you will have to be sensitive to what you encounter on this route.

In thinking, this is far less common, because it seems to happen internally, and we may or may not notice novelty there.

In thinking, you see, routes are fundamental… they »select the possible outcomes before movement of the mind.

Different purposes? Different routes.

Different routes? Different minds.

Unchanging purposes? Same route. Same mind. If that can be called one.
