The problem with ideas is that they »affect all other perspectives. So if you get something wrong, that error leaks into vast implications over the entire landscape of thought and consciousness.
Consider the following: Are physical principles the origin of phenomenon, or is origin mysterious, metaphysical… »before (rather than after) physicality?
If we get this wrong, or start from the wrong position, it’s nearly impossible to make a move that doesn’t mislead us … in the entire range of that which can be thought.
Materialism (the idea that all things are and are merely physical processes) denies the mysterious and that upon which it has no grasp. It’s extremely functional in the sense of being able to produce frameworks and objects with which to manipulate the physical world.
But unguided by intimacy, divorced from Life and Origin… the human cultures that result from this are demonic. Whether or not actual demons are involved… our cultures invent and propagate something so like demons that whether or not the idea is ‘true’, the repercussions and outcomes are the same.
I don’t ‘understand’ Origin, or the mysterious nature of the universe… I revere it. It comes before understanding. Before thought and theory. Without it… there are no minds with which to understand at all…
