Doctor: The test results just came back. I am afraid your entire government has become cancerous.

Citizen: So what can you do?

Doctor: We have an operation where we can replace it with a society that is humane, nobly motivated, intelligent and sustainable.

Citizen: Really?

Doctor: No, I was joking. You and your fellow citizens have to do that. And you have to do it immediately or it will keep killing everything that moves and most of what doesn’t.

Citizen: But how are we supposed to… we aren’t prepared to…

Doctor: I know. But if you understood your own history, you’d realize that the people who founded your government knew this would happen, and intended that the citizens reforge their government, regularly, by revolution if necessary. They knew it would become lethal if this wasn’t done. But some people who were benefiting from the diseases resulting from our failure to do this encouraged everyone to just keep going along with it… ‘for convenience’.

Citizen: Fuck. So we’re effectively complicit in the atrocities of our government?

Doctor: Well, it’s hard to see how that’s not so…

Citizen: We don’t know how to do this. I mean, forge a new nation…

Doctor: Neither do I, but I think we’re about to have to learn… together… with and for each other.
