Although we are »always in a situation where any move could be our last, the transformations that our societies are presently undergoing have radically altered our values and ideas about … everything. From threat evaluation to opportunistic prediction… what it means to be human is, currently, a matter of speculation.

Part of what this means is that the simplest, common activities we took for granted have taken on new meanings… and consequences. Mistakes that might previously have been relatively modest, can now be lethal. Every form of outcome has been amplified, some of them explosively.

We’re in unexplored territory. And learning to see this more clearly will help us, but so, too… will understanding specific aspects of how we got here, what the future can or will likely hold… and how we can learn to ascend to an order of social and interpersonal intelligence that represents ‘escape velocity’ from the forces that have long been masquerading as heroic… while mostly delivering… something malignant.
