This may be one of the most important posts you ever see, for it sketches the frameworks we use to interpret text messages when the context is missing (when we cannot see or hear each other) or when it has been distorted by… the orienting feelings or situations I list below:

1. Fear or concerns — especially if there is frustration or anger.

2. Hopes or fantasies.

3. Recent contextual (local) environmental and attentional attractors (foci)

4. Historically important (temporally extended) environmental and attentional attractors (foci).

These refer to the orienting focuses that underlie our interpretation of text messages when context is missing or has been overwhelmed by (physically, emotionally, historically and temporally) local stimuli…

These are the kinds of things a hypnotist would be aware of… and an enemy of any kind can make overwhelming use of.

Because all of these things can be purposefully manipulated merely by changing the content of the media field we find ourselves exposed to… and circulating… socially and interpersonally.

I am reposting this to ensure I pay attention now that I have a starting place for understanding the underlying circumstances surrounding text (mis)communication that have troubled and fascinated me for 20 years.
