It’s amazing to experience actual quiet throughout the day in the city. I hear birdsongs I am fairly sure I haven’t heard before. The constant roaring of machines is muted. It’s really calming.

On the other hand, the new LED streetlamps that were installed over the past 8 months are, for me, a kind of visual torture. They are hideous. Although I get that what they emit qualifies as illumination, I would hesitate to call the product of those devices ‘light’. It’s horrific, and I would definitely prefer darkness.
