Gnat Singing Many years ago, while wandering in a garden, I discovered that »some gnats are peculiarly responsive to vocal tones. Since then, I have occasionally demonstrated the Darinian art of ‘gnat singing’. This evening, I unexpectedly encountered a small swarm, and was able to make this short video of a phenomenon I find enchanting. In general, the gnats respond to lower tones by clustering and slowing down, and higher tones by expanding and speeding up.
