Giuliani: “Truth isn’t truth.”
Technically, from one domain of concern this can be taken as correct, since nearly all truths »in description are incomplete truths. And, of course, different perspectives or concerns result in different questions, which may result in a diversity of truths.
The problem here is scope. If you make a statement like this, whose apparent scope is universal, the result often has to include itself… language is extremely convoluted (and deceptive) in this way… scope matters.
Here’s why: taken explicitly, the statement contradicts itself, as it proposes to inform us (truthfully) about Truth. So if truth isn’t truth… then this statement isn’t true… and no statement can be… Q.E.D.
