∞ A long time ago, when we were little, she and I figured out the secret of technologies. Where they came from. What they were really for. Here is how it happened. One day, in class, we learned about the Telegraph, and how it was the ancestor of other modes of communication such as radio and television. This gave me an idea.

“You know, some of the machines look like creatures. Bulldozers and cranes and things… I think the adults are cribbing from nature and then pretending to invent things.”

She nodded, quietly reflecting on the matter.

“So I have this idea that we can do a thing with our minds like the Telegraph. We can learn to send and receive pulses. Tiny sequences. Of three. I think the adults invented the Telegraph out of something we used to do… all the time… without machines.”

( And it is not and cannot be merely human minds that are involved…)
