I am going to suggest to you an idea more radical … and perhaps accessible … than any you are likely to have ever been exposed to. And more, that you explore it… directly.
The idea relates to a model of reality, mind and of the world. The model we have been trained to believe, is, I believe, entirely backwards. It is that there is a world which is like a bowl or container… that ‘contains’ us all, and that there is just one such bowl, in which we and other organisms exist as separate elements. Like marbles in a bowl.
Now I am going to suggest that this is absolutely wrong, and, in fact, backwards. In the model I am suggesting, which matches with my direct experience and experiment… the opposite is true. Each person, each organism, is a world. Complete. Containing the entire universe, and all the other participants of this world. In my model, you are ‘a universe’, and the world is a place where all of these worlds are locally collected and capable of influencing each other. Of participating directly in each others’ experience.
In my world, there are no ‘norms’, no ledger of truths or certainties against which we or situations can be reasonably compared. No judges, and no judgements. In my world, each one of us is an entirely unique world and universe, sharing only relatively superficial likenesses with others of our kind.
In my world, each person develops unique senses, abilities and skills… many of which would seem or be impossible in the ‘model world’ we are trained to think about and perceive. What this means is that the abstraction of ‘one world, many people’ is absolutely fiction. What is actually going on is ‘each being is a unique world with unique histories, relationships, abilities and senses’. These senses cannot be developed unless we believe in and explore them, much like the features of ability we refer to as skills.
In my world, everything you see in the sky and the world is actually not outside… but inside you. The appearance is otherwise, the accessible reality, however, is more like my model than the one we were taught.
Now what this means is that there is no such thing as a rock or tree — conceptual identities do not exist except as models that we were trained to believe and act upon. These are fictions, and can nowhere be found. There is no such thing as norms, and our categories are conveniences we came to believe in, which actually blind us to the real nature of reality, mind, and humanity.
In my world, each person develops the senses they are trained to by culture, and some few people, reach out beyond that to discover new abilities, new ways of seeing, being and knowing, that ‘the normalized people’ consider impossible. This means that what is real to your direct experience is real, and the ideas and norms we have been trained to think and believe in are fictions… blinders… that keep us from discovering something so shockingly amazing that it would radically transform all human abilities, knowledge and cultures… possibly overnight.
I want to expand on this at length, but for now, simply consider the possibility that, like most things, we got the foundations of reality and identity totally backwards. That there are no such things as norms or objectivity, and that subjectivity is in fact the truth of reality, identity, personhood, and potential.
Those willing to explore this directly and passionately will be able to determine which of the two models is more like reality: one world in which we are all contained, or many worlds in which we have a shared locale of participation.
Those willing to make these explorations will need new ways of knowing that enable them to tell the difference between ideas and reality, fantasy and fiction… and we must develop these together… for even in my model it is possible to be deceived… in fact… deception has been most of what has been going on in human minds and cultures for thousands of years and billions of lifetimes.
To those pioneers capable of making this leap into another form of humanity and identity, nothing is impossible. For those unwilling or incapable of doing so… a world of norms, lies, conceptual identities, and non-participatory ‘facts’ will continue to rule them.
Here’s to the pioneers ready and capable of exploring an entirely new domain of human development and knowledge, a world where —relationships— suggest identity, rather than concepts and language… declaring them. For it is in relaltion and context that identity and possibility have their origins and developmental processes, not in language, norms, or concepts.
Those pioneers willing to explore this inversion of everything we have been trained to think, believe and act upon… will be my friends and allies, and I look forward to the adventure that awaits us as we give the lie to the nonsensical world we have thus far been subject to, and free all prisoners from its absurd and debilitating confines.
Free all prisoners.
Now.
