Some ‘alphabetics’ discussion related to an attempt to understand ‘spirit’.

“So, the word in English, begins with S. There are other words, in other languages. This S is really like an idealized snake. It’s also like a living branch of a waveplace that became distinguished, in one dimension, from the ocean in some way.

S. It travels by the potential generated by the Yin and Yang modes in union. A forward-moving penetrating force whose histories become Time, and an inward-coiling receptive force that moves sidewise — whose conservations become Memory (like the trail of a snake in sand). One can sense that these properties are universally instanced in all aspects of form, relation and discernment.

And as it travels it at once unifies and divides the world of origin, which is strangely timeless yet alive, and the world of matter and life, which is time-bound, and yet partly dead. This paradoxical union describes the travel of the snake, which unifies and divides origin from its expressions in the ‘physical’ dimension. All these expressions are reflections of the character of origin, the snake, and the tree of resulting relationships among beings.

The P can be understood as potency, projection, progeneration, purpose. This precedes the S yet follows it in this word, demonstrating how that which comes later originates before expression, rather than after it. The I implies the myriads of forms and beings that emerge from this marriage whose potencies are born in lives and minds, stars and worlds. Creatures who see with eyes. The hand, the foot, the wing, the tongue, the eye, the fingertip. All of these are the rays of this sun that becomes ‘individuals’ and dwells between and within them. Beings are then the distributed instances of expression that both inform and intimately co-emerge with and for each other and origin.

R is the radiance that happens when unity becomes distinction in endless forms and bodies that comprise a distributed organ of presence, sensing and relation. They perceive reality from their distinct positions, yet understand things by reference to unity. Set and member. Metaphor and situation.

A hyperstructure within time, of beings and relations beyond time. A sensing and learning way underlies the community of beings, and they, themselves are radiant, and like the fingers on a hand or the rays of light seen in a mist. There must be both unity and distinction; something must at once belong to »this and be »separate from that for it to arise in awareness or thought.

T is a tree of the results of all these processes and activities. The roots, where there is invisible distinction (hidden), the trunk which is the living unity of all branches, and the branches themselves which are evolving rays of material existence and history. And the leaves and flowers, buds and cones are like creatures or people. And, again, the T precedes the I, the R, the P, and the S. It is both the beginning and the ending, yet it has neither origin nor departure in the ordinary senses of distinct, permanent events. Our languages and lexicons are trees and so are our methods of evaluation and knowledge.”
