∞ When we approach memory, we do so in a living way that constellates unities in a manifold. But the manifold does not contain ‘records’: memory, whatever it may be or be like, is nothing like recording — and, in fact, is the very source of likeness.

What we ‘retrieve’ from memory is not retrieved at all. It is something more like ‘giving birth to a unity’ within the context of the mind. The nature of the results depend only partly upon memory, and mostly upon the purposive character of our interaction with it. Much like creation itself, or even… giving birth.
