“It might make more sense to say that the brain creates information.
This is a topic of intense debate, but in my opinion information is not an intrinsic property of matter (like mass or charge). Information is a relational entity: it arises through an interaction between energy and a living organism.
What this means is that the brain does not receive information from the outside world. What it receives is energy: electromagnetic energy in the form of light and thermal radiation, vibrational energy that gives rise to sound and touch, and chemical energy in the form of molecules that trigger smell and taste.
Organisms transform energetic patterns into information: signals that inform them of the ever-changing structure of the world. With the help of information, an organism can find food, shelter and mates, and avoid predators and other threats.”
