The unity and communion of all moments and appearances is a fact. Distinction is a function of awareness, and is most often employed unconsciously, according to severely damaged methods we were trained to emulate. Awareness lies between them, and works in a strange way: we cannot distinguish without a (separated) unity resulting, and we cannot unify without the activity of distinction. Here is a gate to both madness and liberation, but it can only be opened with the hand of your own mind and seeking.
