It is astonishing how adept we are, as collectives, at producing technological objects and machines. While our species has been skyrocketing to technological ‘advancement’, however, the foundations of our intelligences, societies, ecologies and, if I dare… our humanity, have been taking the damage in every possible way — in new ways each day. It appears as if we have been transferring our developmental impetus from its bases in nature and human intelligence into relation with and for machines. And in so doing, we set up a variety of systems that sustain and forcibly advance this ‘evolution’ of technology at the cost of inventing devolutionary processes in the inward nurseries of our minds. Two decades ago our ecologies could limp through this damage. Today, at a rate of 800,000 human life-years per hour, it falls to our generation to resolve these matters at their roots.
