I wanted to mention this in response to your question about how to easily hide posts whose topics or content you are uninterested in seeing.

FB Purity is a necessity for me in using facebook, it hides ads, and allows one to filter one’s newsfeed with relative ease. It isn’t perfect, but it’s regularly updated, well-supported, and excellent. I strongly suggest adding it to your browser’s extensions.

Election season is here, and the newsfeed is filling up with stories about politics, so I thought I would do an info post that explains how you can use FB Purity’s “Text Filter” function, that lets you hide such posts, if you don’t want to see them. Check the image for the instructions on how to do this.

BTW quite a few people have been asking how to hide the new “Page Stories You Might Like” box (and some other similar “things you have missed” or “might like” post types that FBP’s text filter does not currently catch, that show up in the newsfeed from time to time. I have updated FBP so it will now also filter out those types of posts, update/Re-install FBP for the fixed version.
