Puya Alpestris @ SF Botanical Gardens

In the San Francisco Botanical Gardens, I have been discovering that it is possible to obtain fresh nectars directly from a wide variety of flowers by sucking gently on them. Most produce just a tiny amount of this living food, but a few are incredibly productive. A few days ago I discovered this incredibly productive plant ( Puya Alpestris ) from Chile… which produces an astonishing amount of freely available nectar.
