The problem with how we are using social media is that we are largely being used by it. When we do not intelligently specify and agree to the ‘something’ below, and proceed to enact it together, with and for each other… something »else does the specifying, and the result is that we are divided, manipulated, deceived, and fleeced… by and with »our own effort in service of our refusal to take an active role. Our participation requires intelligence we do not habitually possess or arouse, and, unguided, we will as groups tend to act like prey. The result of this passive victim role is an ongoing intelligence crash. Relational, intellectual, social, and heuristic. The result this passive role is, approximately, Facebook.
