We are essentially scripted to invent ‘reasons’ for feelings, and to add courtroom-like narratives to experiences … but this is essentially a recipe for insanity and emotional distress. It’s like inventing a bank of pain that pays interest on every new deposit by lighting up all previous transactions… an actual disaster… that exists only as a fiction which we invent, nurture and sustain… instead of our lives, minds, creativity and developmental excellence. In effect, it’s con-game that robs us of potential in return for pain.
