I feel obligated to weigh in on this.

This sounds sound. Seriously. Apparently, only an idiot would argue. And I -generally- but not totally agree. Understanding why requires careful thought, not reaction to memes. There is not much of that going on these days because we prefer to simply assume we are correct and attack.

Unfortunately, there are huge problems with this idea, and this meme.

First: we are animals. we are not exactly in control. of anything. pretending otherwise? disaster. every time.

Second: know anything about triggers and brains? animal brains have triggers that, essentially, force behavior under certain conditions. pretending otherwise? lying and catastrophic. these triggers can be inhibited by (especially intelligent) culture, ->but not much more than modestly by legislation. ever.

Third: people are not statistics, ideas, or laws. they are variable beings who reply -to signals-. people pretending they are not signalling with clothing are lying, overtly, whether or not they have ‘the right to give any signal they like in public and enjoy all protections from all consequences of signalling’.

^ that? is totally absurd.

If I walk into a redneck bar with a tu-tu and a pink T-shirt that says ‘Have a Gay Day’…

Should I expect control? Safety?

If I approach a bear while bleeding? Should I expect control?

What if I slap the backside of a man’s wife or daughter … appreciatively?

(Only an idiot would do these things… but would they then claim that they had done nothing at all and have no role in the outcome)?
